Happy Birthday to ME!

This birthday was one to remember!  I have been considering myself 26 almost since Sean turned 26 in April.   I always love birthdays, regardless of who they belong to, so it's a lot of fun when it's actually mine!  The Saturday before, we went to Dave & Busters.  I don't know if anyone has gone there before, but it is soooo much fun!  We had a delicious dinner, and they sang me happy birthday and brought ice cream with a candle in it to make my first wish :).  The fun part about Dave & Busters is that it is filled with arcade games. We paid $25 and got 175 tokens.  Each game is about 5 tokens, so needless to say we were able to play a lot!  There were simulation rides, racing & dancing games, speed games--ALL sorts of stuff!  I was so bad at the racing games that my 4 year old nephew said, "Meagan stop running into the walls."  lol I have never been an arcade person, but this was soooo awesome!  Just the environment itself is exciting!  We had a blast.  If you ever have the chance to go, you should!  I even got a ton of free tickets because it was my birthday!  Jenny is the one who planned it all.  Sean said, "I am glad you have Jenny because I suck at this planning stuff."  I said I am glad I have Jenny too :)

The day of my birthday started out bright and early!  I really wanted to watch the sunrise while eating Dunkin' Donuts and drinking hot chocolate.  I just had this vision in my head.  Let me tell you, the vision was nothing compared to the real thing!  We woke up at 4:45 and headed down to Cocoa Beach.  It was hard to stay awake on the way there, but the excitement of my birthday kept me awake :)  Once there, we stopped at DD and got the Oreo donut I wouldn't let myself have because of my change of eating habits.  I did splurge on my day.  Anyway, no one was out there, and it was completely dark.  We didn't bring a flashlight, so it was just the stars and moon for us :)  Sean was being HILARIOUS!  He was making up songs, laughing, being goofy.  We saw some crabs too.  Sean was afraid of them which made the morning even funnier.  Right before the sun came up, a flock of seagulls came in...there were so many of them.  I guess they were waiting for the same thing too.  There is nothing like watching the sunrise on the beach.  The colors that were shooting out from the horizon, and how fast it takes the sun to hit the horizon, then how quickly it rises after that.   It's just inspiring.  That's when I hit the water...not all the way because it was cold, but splashing around sufficed.  We enjoyed it then made our way home. Ashlee and Gavin called to sing to me too.  Gav is just so adorable that nothing beats his version. I slept for a bit, then headed to work.

I as greeted at work by a spanglish version of "Happy Birthday" and they even got me a cake!  I loved that they did that.  I got a card too!  It was soo nice of them :)  When I got off work, I went to get Sean from his mom's house, and there I was greeted with another chorus of "Happy Birthday" and Sean got me a cheesecake for my birthday cake!  This was special because Sean HATES cheesecake, but he made it all about me.  We got ready to go to an early dinner after that at Outback for steak and crab-legs.  It was oh so delicious.  I usually only want crab about once a year, and it was tasty!  The outback staff then brought out a HUGE oreo sunday and sang their version of happy birthday.  FUn!  Thank goodness it was fun because Sean and I were falling asleep at dinner.  We wanted to go take a nap in the car lol.  So exhausted.

Sean gave me my present at dinner.  It was a card with a letter that said 4 things:
1. He will support me in cutting my hair.
2. I get to go shopping (since he didn't know what style of anything I wanted)
3.
4.  We get to go do a fun birthday surprise after dinner.  (surprise turned out to be not worth the money, so we are going to go to the zoo next Friday.)

He made me feel so wonderful all day!  We went shopping right after dinner.  It's weird because out of all the clothes I saw, all I wanted was exercise clothes and new tennisshoes.  WHAT'S THE DEAL?! I have just been so into working out lately that this is what I want.  I am pretty happy with everything else.  Sean shopped with me and didn't complain the whole time!  We went the next day too and he didn't complain.  That was a real gift :)  He just did everything he could to make me happy  and it made the day perfect.

That night I had musical practice and they all sang to me.  Let me tell you it was the most beautiful happy birthday I have ever heard.  harmonies and everything! (Don't worry Miss May, yours was a close second :) Wow!

I can't get the picture right side up.  It was from the missionaries and they did a GREAT job!
It was a "Hill Cumorah" cake with the m&m's as urim & thummim and they painted a gold toothpick sword! The walls were built out of a cookies&cream candy bar!  Awesome missionaries!

All in all it was a great birthday.  Thank you friends for calling me, writing, and thinking of me.  Big shout out to my girl Cara for sending me a WONDERFUL birthday present.  It's everything I need to get on my fitness way!  All of it was so thoughtful!  I am so grateful to have a best friend like you!  The fact that it came on Saturday only extended my birthday!  Thank you!  Love you girl!  I am so glad that I have the people in my life that I do.  You guys only make life sweeter.  Love ya!

Gavin's Birthday

This past weekend was oh so busy for Sean and I!  My nephew Gavin was celebrating his 4th birthday on Saturday, so Sean and I decided to go up on Friday night to help get things ready.  After we went swimming and shopping, we got started on getting things ready.  Ashlee wanted Gavin to wake up to a Pirate fantasy, so she transformed her living room to look like the ocean and turned the table into a pirate ship.  We laid tarps on the floor, blew up balloons and drew fish faces on them...made a pirate flag, and hung crate paper from the ceiling.  It looked so great and Gavin loved it!  We also filled up 500 water balloons that night.  OH MY GOSH!  It took forever, but was so worth it the next day.  They set up a sand box for the kids to dig for buried treasure, there was a little slip n' slide in the back yard, and we had a huge water balloon fight.  It was a blast.  Gavin had so much fun!  The slip n' slide wasn't as slippery as we had hoped, so we took some tarps and soap and the hose and created a GIANT one on the hill in her front yard.  OH MY WHAT A BLAST!  The kids could not get enough, and it was just as much fun for the adults to watch them.  What fun!  I even took a few slides on it.  :)  Here's some pics from the event.

Gavin's 4!

I had to share this picture, because every time a kid went down the slide, Miss Coco ran beside them, then back up to the top--EVERY TIME!   It was so funny!

The adults got in on it too!

Recipe: Biscuits

Just thought I would share this recipe I made today.  The only difference I made was that when I rolled out the dough, I rolled it out really thick.  Maybe about 3/4".  They didn't taste bland like most homemade biscuits do, and with the pot roast, they were great sandwiches :)

Our Old New Place

I thought it was time for Sean and I to show you our new apt.  We moved about a month and a half ago.  It's a 1 bedroom and we are right on the edge...so our front yard is the woods. We think it was built about 40 years ago, and definitely needs to be renovated, but it's okay. We have made it home.  When we moved in, I was so tired of packing and moving that if I haven't used it, or if we had two of something, I have thrown it away.  No more saving stuff because I might use it.  It felt good and I think everyone should try it!  It seemed so much smaller before we got our stuff in it, but it is actually just right!!!  We love it!

View from the front door

Living Room (standing in the kitchen)

Surprisingly, this little shelf has our A/C unit, but it keeps the whole place cool!

Utility Room (right off the kitchen)  There is also an attic above this room.  Great for storing things we don't have room for...that is, all things that I haven't thrown away.

Bathroom (obviously) looks small, but it's a good size, and behind the door there is a HUGE closet.

Hallway (view from bathroom) You can't see it, but on the right side in the hall, there is another huge closet.

I will post pics of our room when we get it done.  It's still a work in progress :)

Update on my ear:  Still hurts every once and a while, but it's getting better.  Sean has started making my birthday week amazing along with my wonderful friend Jenny.  I am so excited for this week :)

It's been a LOOOOONG time!

It has been such a long time since I blogged last!  I still had a Christmas background, and I don't even remember if it was from this last Christmas, or the one before.  Either way, it's time to start blogging again.  Obviously so much has happened since I last updated.  Sean and I have been surely blessed :)
Sean has been going to school full time, as well as going to night school to become an EMT.  He has completed his course and is now studying for his certification exam.  He wanted to get some hands-on medical experience while on his way to Medical School.  Yes, that's right!  Sean has decided to become a doctor.  His original plan to become a Physician's Assistant changed once he did some volunteering in the hospital.  He has wanted to be a doctor for a while and was going to be a P.A. because it was quicker.  We decided (after praying) that time didn't matter as long as he was doing something he loved...so we are on our way!

As for me, I am still working at Chase bank.  I am a teller now and I am trying to work my way up through the company.  I am looking for work at some non-profits that I can do as well, since I am only working part-time.  I just want to do more!  I might be auditioning for a musical on Tuesday.  I just have to learn the songs.  It makes me nervous because I have never auditioned for something like that before.  I will (hopefully) update on how that goes.

Most recently we celebrated the 4th of July.  We had plans to go to our friend's beach house, play all day at the beach, then watch the fireworks that night at the beach.  Unfortunately I had an ear infection and a ruptured ear drum that made me not want to go anywhere!  So Sean and I got some soup and made grilled cheese, and watched movies.  That night we went to our friends house and watched their fireworks, which actually turned out to be pretty big!  My ears are still healing, but I am being really careful.  DON'T USE Q-TIPS!

Anyway, Miss Coco is being adorable, and I have taught her to sit, lay down, roll over, and to dance on her hind legs.  She is loving our new apt., which by the way is just the right size.  When I have everything put away, I will post pictures.  Its a one bedroom and lots of space.  I was in major purge mode when we moved in because I don't want to move random stuff ever again.  I got rid of so many clothes, so now all my stuff fits--which has never before happened.

Well that's all for now, but I am feelin' it now so I should be updating every so often now.  :)

Upcoming events:  MY BIRTHDAY!  ANNIVERSARY!  VACATION!
