News

So I have told a couple of you, I have recently lost my job at H.I.S Painting. It's nothing that I did, and I wasn't the only one. They really just don't have any business. I am not mad at them either. Several people are getting pay-cuts. It was a huge shock, but you know, it probably happened for the best. I did that job because I had to, so now I am going to search for a job that I really want. My boss also said that when I apply for a job, she wants to be a big part of it. She told me to tell her what I am applying for, and she would like to speak with the hiring manager directly. She also wrote a great letter of recommendation. I am really going to focus on event planning.

Right now, I just have a lot of time on my hands. I pretty much look forward to cleaning the house every day--shocker! I have been listening to the Harry Potter books while I clean too. I am on the 4th one! It is a little lonely, because Sean is at work every day--all day. There aren't that many people here my age, and if they are, they have children and other priorities. So, I am adjusting, but it is what it is.

You know, it's hard, but the Lord puts things in our path for a reason. I enjoyed my time there, and it was a bit of a let-down, but now, it's just a new chapter in my life. We will see what happens next.

4th of July

Our 4th of July was so perfect! It was very perfect because Sean and I were able to spend the WHOLE day together. Because we hadn't fully unpacked yet, we decided that we were going to clean all day until it was done. So we did. It wasn't bother-some, however, it was really fun! We were really able to get everything done. Our house looks great and we were both so happy and felt accomplished that we did it. After we were done, we went to the store to get everything that we realized that we needed as we cleaned. We also picked up a few fireworks :)

After the store, we came home and made our first meal on our road towards healthier eating habits. We made little turkey bacon, turkey burgers, along with some steamed veggies. Boy was it delicious!!!
Afterwards, we went to play basketball at the church, at finished the night by lighting our little fire crackers in our parking lot with the missionaries and Dominique.
It was a simple day, but we got a lot done and we both had a great time!

Past Experience: Shuttle Roll-Out

May 31, 2011

I had the wonderful-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go see the Endeavor Space Shuttle get rolled out to the launch pad for the last time ever!!! A brother in our ward works at the Space Center (like everyone else here)—he’s a real rocket scientist—and he got tickets to go out there! It was me, him, and the missionaries (Sean got what I had so he was SUPER sick!), and we got out there early, sat on our camping chairs and waited for HOURS for it to get dark and get started!

They have to roll it out on a rock path because it’s the only thing that can sustain the weight. They also have to spray the rocks with water to smooth it out. It moves at about 1.5 miles per hour! So amazing. Before it came out, however, we were entertained because …wait for it…

THE ASTRONAUTS CAME OUT AND MET WITH US!!! We all got autographs, shook their hands and got pictures with Rex Wilheim (sp?). It was definitely a momentous occasion and one I can look back on as something that I will probably never have the opportunity to do again!
